Located

Sunset Maple Drafts is located in Highgate, Vermont. Our love for draft horses started many generations before us, being operated by great-great grandparents in the woods or on the farm accomplishing tasks without tractors. Our goal is to always provide opportunity, whether that be to young adults wanting to learn about the draft horse industry, providing a dream of riding in a horse-drawn carriage, or providing rides within our community to help celebrate special events or seasons of life. Currently we own 3 percherons that our family enjoys showing, riding, and driving!

Crew

Our crew consists of close friends and family. We could not do what we do without them. They say raising children takes a village, well so doesn't having a growing business! Oftentimes you will find Elizabeth's father, Jason Flint, or other family members helping at events that either need more hands on deck or more than 1 team of horses! That is the great part of having a family that all have the same passion! As a family we enjoy watching the pure excitement from community members who get to celebrate special occasions with us as well as having young children gain a new experience they may not have previously!

Passion

Sunset Maple Drafts is owned and operated by Elizabeth and Tyler Sweet who have a daughter, Katelyn, and a son, Oliver. Elizabeth has learned the skill of draft horse management from years worth of knowledge of generations before her. She started working with draft horses at 6 years old and has had a passion ever since. Although her passion started at home, she has traveled throughout the United States competitively showing and training draft horses for other very large farms. Although Elizabeth loved the hussle of showing draft horses, she has a deeper appreciation for enjoying a nice quiet ride with her farm team appreciating the simple things in life. Elizabeth's passion has now grown to include Katelyn which you will sometimes see driving the team at community events!

We look forward to hearing from you or your community on how we can help make your event a little bit more special!
